Important update - returning to College – January 2021

Update 31st December

Following the Government announcement on Wednesday 30th December to delay the start of on site teaching/delivery for schools and Colleges, we have included below some useful information to outline how the start of term will work.

Monday 4th January

This will be a non-teaching day for all students (including vulnerable students) and therefore students should not attend College. We are aware that there is a need for some remote delivery to take place. If this affects you, you will be contacted directly by your tutor.

From Tuesday 5th January

Teaching will resume from Tuesday 5th January and this will largely be through remote learning (working online from home) with the exception of vulnerable students, who should attend College as normal. Your tutors will be in touch with you to confirm arrangements.

Exams

There are some exams scheduled to take place during these first two weeks of term. If you are expecting to sit an exam you will be required to attend College and we will contact you directly to confirm exam arrangements. The only exception is Functional Skills English Speaking and Listening which is scheduled for w/c 11th January. This will now be re-scheduled and a new date will be confirmed in due course.

COVID testing

As you may be aware, we are required to set up COVID testing at each of our sites. The testing will help towards tackling the spread of the virus across our county. Details of how the mass testing will be implemented are being finalised by the Government, but the aim is to start testing w/c11th January before we resume on site teaching/delivery w/c 18th January. We will provide a further update on this as soon as we can.

COVID-19 guidelines

It's important that everyone continues to follow the Government's guidelines and for most of us, that means following the Tier 4 restrictions. We all have a part to play and our individual actions continue to be extremely important in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
