Former student savours success

Laura visited The College recently and signed a copy of her book

Laura Amos graduated in 1990 with a Diploma in Hospitality and Catering - Level 3 from The School of Hospitality and Food at The Bournemouth and Poole College.  Laura was fondly remembered as a warm hearted but shy young lady in her first year of studies.

Josephine Pearce, her personal tutor, placed Laura with Christophe Novelli in London for three months summer professional and technical employment in the kitchen, with a little help from college tutor David Boland’s industry contacts. Laura then came back to complete her Diploma.

Her tutor Josephine contacted her through Facebook recently out of curiosity, and found out that Laura has had an amazing journey of success in the industry.  Laura first worked at The Ivy, then was Head Chef at the Caprice, then continued on to Popina to assist in product development in Artisan Bakery.  Finally, in 2008 at the age of 26 Laura launched her own unique luxury dessert brand, The Dessert Deli with market pitches in Northcote Road, London.

In her spare time Laura also published her first book ‘The Dessert Deli’ in 2012, which is fully endorsed by Lorraine Pascale and Mark Hix.  Laura visited her tutors at The College recently and signed her book with ‘Thanks for making me the person I am today’
