College students raise money for centenary Poppy Appeal

As the world remembers one hundred years since the end of the First World War, Bournemouth & Poole College catering students have been raising money for the Poppy campaign by preparing and selling cakes and biscuits to fellow students, staff and the general public.

In a special display held in the Brasserie restaurant earlier this week, the commemorative cakes proved extremely popular, resulting in the students raising over £100 to mark the centenary of the Armistice.

Deborah Sherman, Chef Lecturer of the Progression to Catering tutor group, the group responsible for producing the cakes and biscuits said “taking part in the fundraising has been a great opportunity for the college’s catering students, especially participating in such a rewarding community event”.

“The students were incredibly proud to take part in the appeal, because it contributes to supporting members of the armed forces who have given so much for their countries.”
