College celebrates 100 % A Level pass rate!

Students celebrated outstanding A Level results

The Bournemouth & Poole College is toasting its best ever return for A Level results with a 100% pass rate. It’s an improvement on last year’s numbers, and a breakdown of the figures shows that 66% achieved A to C grades and 37% were in the A* to B range.

A delighted Head of Sixth Form, Tracey Griffin, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and is a well-deserved result for all our hard working students. They have all stepped up to meet the challenge of the first stage of A Level reforms and met it head-on with outstanding success. It’s an excellent outcome for the college."

BBC South today shared in the student's success, and sent a film crew along to capture some of the students unveiling their results. They also interviewed several students who had overcome adversity and triumphed in their A Levels.

Medical career in sight for Anvar
Student Anvar, originally from Uzbekistan, has just started on his journey to becoming a doctor. His amazing results stand him in good stead to achieving his goal as he got an A in Biology, A in Chemistry, A in Psychology and A in Maths. He said: “I am delighted. It’s a good day. These are the grades I will need and I’d like to thank my teachers.”

Three students in tune with each other
The results were music to the ears of Elise Jones, Ryan Welman and Seb Bowen. All three will be making music together at The University of Chichester after achieving the required grades at A Level.

Sussex challenge lies ahead for Lewis
Lewis Backon, from Bournemouth,  is looking to take up a place as an undergraduate at Sussex University after landing A* A  and B in Psychology, Government and Politics and Sociology.

Laima is record breaker in Applied ICT and Business Studies
Laima Zirne, originally from Latvia, scored the highest mark ever attained at the college in Applied ICT and Business Studies. Her A* in the subject went along side A* in Business an A in Finance and B in Maths. Laima plans to go to London University to study Finance and Risk Management.

Alex lands lucrative bursary
It was a big day for Alex Graham, 18, from Hamworthy.  He landed a scholarship worth £1,500 to study film at Bournemouth University for his grades in Film Studies and Media.
