Bournemouth & Poole College support people looking for a career change in 2019

Bournemouth & Poole College is urging adults who are considering embarking on a new career in 2019, or looking to gain new qualifications to enhance their job opportunities, to attend its New Year, Fresh Start event on Thursday January 10 from 3.30-6.30pm at its Poole site.

The complimentary event will provide attendees with access to expert careers advice from many curriculum areas, and the opportunity to find out more information about the range of courses that are available for candidates to enrol onto in the New Year.

Jacqueline Gower completed her level 5 diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services at the College. Jacqueline explained that after 25 years in the care sector she was keen to gain a recognised qualification to further her career opportunities. Jaqueline said: “I wanted a qualification that would aid my personal development in my role as a care team leader. There was a good mix of classroom learning and the support from the tutors at the College was outstanding, it really helped being able to meet the tutors face-to-face. I really feel that I’ve gained both personally and professionally by doing the course. I can’t recommend the College enough.”

Penny Ward gained a level 2 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning at the College. Penny said: “I wanted to work with young people, but I didn’t have the right qualifications, so I enrolled onto a course at the College. I found it really interesting and received lots of support, guidance and reassurance. I was even offered a job while on the course. It has given me so much confidence and I have gone from strength to strength.”

Louise Garner, director of learning applied science, care and foundation learning, added: “January can be the perfect time to learn a new skill and progress in your career. Many adults have busy lives and this can put them off doing a course that could really boost their CV. At Bournemouth & Poole College we offer a flexible approach to learning and part-time courses that can fit around a demanding schedule.”

The College will also be taking applications for apprenticeships, part-time courses and one full-time course, starting between January and April 2019, on the evening during the event.
