International Access to University

Designed specifically for International students

 

The International Access to University programme is an academic preparation programme for undergraduate entry in four generic subject areas.

The course is structured over 6 months and will include subject specific content combined with core subjects and other modules, successfully preparing international students for entry to undergraduate degrees at a range of UK universities.

Pathways to choose from: Art and Design, Business, Humanities and Social Science, or Media.

Venue: Business, Humanities and Social Science at Lansdowne campus, Bournemouth

Venue: Art and Design, Media at North Road campus, Poole

Duration: 6 months accelerated, full-time

Visa requirements: Short-term study visa

Start dates: January and September 2020

Course level: Level 3

Qualification: Access to Higher Education Diploma

Awarding body: CAVA (Cambridge Access Validating Agency) or UAL (University Arts London)

Introduction

The main purpose of this programme is to enable you to gain direct progression to the first year of an undergraduate programme at a UK university. Graduates from The Bournemouth and Poole College have been successful in gaining entry to many leading UK universities.

Entry requirements

The course is designed for International fee paying students of 17 years plus who have completed high school matriculation in their own country. You will need to have Academic IELTS 5.0 or equivalent for September start, and Academic IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for January start. You will be offered English Language and study support alongside your main programme.

Course structure

The course is structured over 6 months and will include subject specific content combined with core subjects and other modules.

The Bournemouth and Poole College offers excellent resources and highly skilled staff to ensure that you are successful in your studies. The teaching methods employed will be a mix of classroom-based activities, supported self-study and blended learning, and will include tutorial support.

Specialist subjects: Business; Accounting; Marketing and Economics 

Humanities

Core subjects and other modules: Preparation for IELTS; Study and Research Skills; University Placement Advice; Maths; Integrated Assignment

Specialist subjects: Sociology; Psychology; History; Global Politics

Media

Core subjects and other modules: Preparation for IELTS; Study and Research Skills; University Placement Advice; Maths; Integrated Assignment

Specialist subjects: Moving Image; Digital Video Skills; Film Studies; Stop Frame Animation; Producers and Audiences; Audio Production for Video; Photography; Graphic Design for Website Development

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for International Access applications by students from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela, Vietnam, and from European & Middle Eastern countries.
