Welcome to this year's launch of the Dorset Arts Prize. We're turning five!
Whatever your specialism, whether you're a sculptor, photographer, a painter or a graphic designer, we want to see your art!
This year we are celebrating our 5th anniversary and we're hoping for even more entries than ever.
Since its launch in 2014, we have given away £33,500 in prize money and have received in excess of 600 entries to date!
We're thrilled to welcome Sibyl Fine King, Director of the Fine Family Foundation as our newest member of the judging panel. The Foundation supports Dorset-based charitable bodies working with the environment, the arts, education, health and also in community projects . Sibyl brings with her a wealth of experience and will compliment our esteemed panel of judges.
The Dorset Arts Prize for 2018 is an open submission for all aspects of visual arts practice and we encourage all Dorset artists, designers, art students and makers working in all media forms to submit their artworks.
The original idea for the Dorset Arts Prize was to encourage and help create a broader, more inclusive vision for the arts locally and actively engage all aspects of the community.
Theme for 2018 - "Open"
The theme for this year's Dorset Arts Prize is "open". We hope that this continues to allow the artists the freedom to prodcue work in whichever style of format they feel most confident in.
The tone, mood and subject matter are entirely the choice of the artist. Artists can submit work that is new or recently produced. Students can submit final pieces of course work from Degree, HND, A Level, Level 3, 2 and 1 Diploma and GCSE.
Artworks can be in any media: 2D or 3D practice, drawing, watercolours, oil or acrylic paintings, photographs, textiles, printmaking, ceramics and the digital art forms, animation and the moving image.
Submission deadline - 1st July 2018
- Prize winners and runners up will be notified by The College by 8th September 2018
- If you have not been contacted by this date then unfortunately you have not been selected for the 2018 Dorset Art Prize
- Please note, due to time constraints we will not be able to offer feedback on our decisions to select or exclude artwork.
