BA (Hons) Post Compulsory Education

I think we are really lucky to have the College on our doorstep. I enjoyed studying here when I was younger, and I’ve enjoyed it as an adult too.

BA (Hons) Post Compulsory Education student at Bournemouth & Poole CollegeI originally came to the College back in the early nineties to study a BTEC in Nursery Nursing, as it was called back then. After being in my career for some time, I decided to go back to College to further my knowledge, but this time to study for a Certificate in Social Care. This then led me to the University of Southampton where I completed my Diploma in Social Work.

The courses I had studied and the knowledge I had gained in my job ignited a real enthusiasm, and I wanted to be able to share that knowledge and enthusiasm with others. So in my quest to do this, I enrolled onto the Diploma in Education and Training before then progressing on to the BA (Hons).

I think we are really lucky to have the College on our doorstep. I enjoyed studying here when I was younger, and I’ve enjoyed it as an adult too.

It’s brilliant being able to study for a qualification at this level, and to have done it so locally. I would never have been able to afford to go to university, or even move away, so this made it achievable and accessible.

Studying and working full-time has been challenging. I’ve had to work very hard to fit everything in, but I’ve done it and I’ve got a First Class Honours Degree!

I can’t fault the College, they’ve been fantastic every step of the way. The support has been incredible. If you’re thinking about your next steps and considering returning to College but are worried, don’t be.
