Liam Curtis, BSc (Hons) in Computer Generated Imagery
“My Degree has provided me with endless opportunities.”
I studied for a BSc (Hons) in Computer Generated Imagery, and chose the architectural pathway. I enjoyed it so much. I even won an exceptional student award for my work. I could spend hours modelling and texturing projects. The tutors were extremely helpful and supportive – I couldn’t have got to where I am now without them.
I had already spent two years at The College completing a BTEC Diploma in Web and Games. When my tutors told me how I could go into Higher Education, I went along to an open day and saw everything that was on offer. I also went to a university open day and I didn’t like the big lecture halls. I much preferred the smaller class room environment that The College offers.
The qualification I got is verified by Bournemouth University. It’s exactly the same qualification I’d have got if I studied at university, but I got to study at a location better suited to me.
The course has provided me with endless opportunities. A company from Liverpool came to our final presentations and took interest in my work. I ended up with a year’s internship during which time I worked on real-life projects. These projects won awards and are widely recognised online.
A week after graduating, we had a design show at The College. An architectural representation company called Darcstudio saw my work, got in touch with me and I started working there a week later!
