The Junior Chefs' Certificate is designed for young people aged between 14 and 16 years of age who have a lively interest in cooking and wish to develop professional cookery skills and techniques relevant to the Hospitality and Catering Industry.

What do I need to apply

To do this course you should have... 

Your parent/guardian will be required to complete a medical questionnaire which must be received before the start of the course. We ask all our students to wear a facemask or visor when entering the buildings and for the duration of each session, to comply with government guidance.

Course content

Course Content 

The programme commences with an induction on the correct use of equipment and other health and safety issues. You will be taught cookery skills including vegetable cuts and soups to develop your knife skills. On your last day you will be presented with a certificate of completion.

You will be required to wear non-slip shoes that cover and protect your feet, black trousers and a white T-shirt. It will also be necessary for you to bring a tea towel and container to take home your finished dishes.   We ask all our students to wear a facemask or visor when entering the buildings and for the duration of each session, to comply with government guidance.
