HNC Architectural Technology

These 2-year part-time courses are developed in full consultation with all the relevant professional bodies, and will give you a solid grounding in activities associated with the construction industry.  The courses are designed to provide a range of vocational skills, both broad-based and qualification-specific. The courses will be delivered mainly through formal lectures, supported by a system of tutorials, workshops, laboratory sessions, visits and field exercises. Despite the diverse nature of the construction industry, the overall objective of the built environment sector is to provide functional, cost-effective and sustainable buildings and infrastructure. These course structures reflect the common interests across the industry’s various disciplines.

What the course leads to

What courses can I do after this?

These courses are aimed at people already employed within the built environment sector. The specific careers will depend on the chosen pathway and our graduates gain employment in a wide range of organisations both in the private and public sectors. Employment opportunities range from working in in-house department for a large public or commercial company, including local authorities, housing associations and consultancies to specialist contractors or large multi-service companies offering a range of design, build, finance and management.

Built Environment courses provide an academic platform to enter a number of post HNC courses, such as the BA (Hons) in Architectural Technology at Southampton Solent University.
