Dementia is one of the main causes of disability in later life, and cases are rising – by 2051, it’s expected that two million people in the UK will have dementia. If you work with people with dementia, it’s important that you understand the condition and know how to provide the best possible care for each individual. This qualification enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. Successful completion of the units will allow learners to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of dementia and its effects.

In this curriculum offer learners will develop essential knowledge of dementia, how person-centred approaches are used and the principles of communication and interaction. Learners will develop their understanding of positive interaction, occupation and activity, equality, diversity and inclusion. Learners will explore how to support individuals with dementia to exercise choice and rights and how to administer medication.

Whether you’re interested in learning for work, career progression or self development, our range of nationally recognised courses provide a flexible blended approach to your learning.
