Aiden, Sports Apprentice at Bournemouth & Poole CollegeI get to support PE teachers in lessons; it's real life work experience with a wage!

I am currently working towards my School Sport Apprenticeship at Glenmoor and Winton Academies in Bournemouth. I am really enjoying working with all sorts of students aged 11-16.

My Apprenticeship has given me a lot of responsibility. My duties range from helping out in PE lessons supporting teachers, to sorting kits for students and getting equipment ready for fixtures. As it is a very busy environment, I have to be proactive and work to keep the kit rooms and store cupboards clean and tidy. I also have to ensure all the equipment is well maintained and up to standard.

Prior to starting my Apprenticeship I gained Level 2 Fitness Instructing and Sports and Leisure qualifications at the College and by the end of this course I will have also achieved a Level 2 School Sport Apprenticeship, which will really help open up a lot of career pathways. I can’t thank my tutors enough as they have supported me in every way necessary to help me accomplish what I want to achieve.

I’d definitely recommend doing an Apprenticeship!
