The Students Union is run entirely by elected students. The elections are held twice a year. Once for the President and the four Vice Presidents - the second to elect the remaining fifteen positions. It is a lot of fun helping out with the SU and excellent to have on your CV.
Gary Head (SU President 98-99)
"It wasn't easy finding work after leaving College but it would have been harder if I hadn't gained the self confidence and belief I did through the Union. The experience, that I included on my CV, was always well received by prospective employers."
Jimmy Everigham (North Road Site Rep 97-98)
"During my time as North Road Site Rep I helped to arrange and take part in a bungee jump; the Ball; a trip to Amsterdam; the Freshers Fayres; and lots more. It was a laugh in the SU and I learnt all about arranging and running events which has put me in the job I am doing now - I would recommend it to anyone!"
You don't have to be an elected post holder within the Students Union to be able to help out with different events. For large events like the Ball and Rag Week anyone can help with the organisation and decision making - just come along to the relevant committee meetings.
