Young people wishing to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme will now be able to do so by joining a college group.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a highly successful programme for young people with over 225,000 participants at any one time and a network of Award Groups throughout the UK.
The award is a programme of personal and social development with three progressive levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. It gives young people aged 14-25, whether able-bodied or with special needs, an opportunity to experience challenges and adventure whilst gaining recognition and accreditation for their achievements in four different sections:
Throughout the programme young people can either develop existing interests or try something new.
The College will be offering participants the opportunity to join the Bronze or Silver Awards and hopes to introduce the Gold award in the future.
