College Chaplain

Have you ever thought about…

- If there is a God, what is she like?

- Is religion a kind of politics, or the other way round?

- If heaven’s full of Christians, do I want to go there?

The Chaplaincy can’t promise to answer all your questions but it is there for everyone at the College – whatever your faith, whatever your question – to be yourself, open your mind, act for justice, think through faith, or if you just want to say hi. Please feel free to get in touch by phone (Lansdowne - 01202 205896, North Road - 01202 205255) or email (swmiller@bpc.ac.uk).

College Chaplain

The Quiet Room

Quiet Room in Hut 321 at North Road, is somewhere to escape to. It’s open to everyone, whatever your faith, and so is yours to use whenever you want – whether you want to read, think, pray, listen to some music or just to relax.

Groups and places

There are groups on campus for people of all sorts of faith – for students and staff. The Chaplaincy also works very closely with faith communities and other groups in Bournemouth and Poole – and we enjoy the friendship of the leaders and communities of the different faiths in our towns. If you’d like to get in touch with any of these – please contact the Chaplain.

The Student Christian Movement

The Chaplaincy is affiliated to The Student Christian Movement. SCM is a movement seeking to bring together students of all denominations to explore the Christian faith in an open-minded and non-judgemental environment, and the movement’s website is at www.movement.org.uk . As an SCM chaplaincy, we are:

inclusive
All people are welcome because our diversity is a gift to be celebrated.

aware
We recognise the importance of respect for and openness to other faiths.

radical
Faith and social justice cannot be separated - Christians must be equipped to engage with contemporary theological, political and social issues.

challenging
Thinking through and questioning our faith ensures that it remains alive and dynamic.

The Chaplaincy also supports Inclusive Church ( www.inclusivechurch.net ), Christian Aid ( www.christian-aid.org.uk ), and MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY ( www.makepovertyhistory.org ).
