Gap Years

Thinking of taking a gap year?

What is a Gap Year?

A gap year can be taken by anyone at any age and for many reasons. The majority of gap years are taken by young people before they go to university and may include travelling, volunteering or working. Career breaks are similar and involve many of the same activities.

Why Would I Take a Gap Year?

Research estimates that between 100,000 and 200,000 young people aged 16 to 25 are undertaking some kind of gap year annually, so why are so many people opting to take a gap year? Gap years can expose you to exciting new experiences, cultures and people and this can help to develop your skills and outlook. The benefits of a gap year are becoming widely recognised by colleges, universities and employers.
