Assistive Technology in the FSSL Academy

Equipment, Facilities and Locations

Image of Rollerball MouseAt North Road FSSL (Foundation Studies and Skills for Life), we will have height adjustable tables in IT rooms 104, 105 and 118.

Laptops are available in rooms 214 and 217.

Kitchen facilities in room 101; there is a height adjustable workstation with a sink and cooker, which wheelchair users can access. The kitchen also has a 'talking' microwave, spiked chopping boards and a range of adapted cutlery.

Horticulture and enrichment activities take place at Holton Lee, which is a centre for students with physical impairments. Special 'trampers' can be used to access the countryside by wheelchair users.

Resources

Large layout keyboard and rollerball mice are available to help students with physical impairments to use computers.

Services

Learning Support Assistants provide support in sessions, generally to the group as a whole, although they may support individuals with specific tasks.
