Hundreds of students from schools and colleges across BCP (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) area attended the Careers and Apprenticeships Show (CAS) on Thursday, 14th March 2024. The show is a two-year event held to help students with their career path choices for the future – in terms of their studies. Along with IMI Thompson Valves, Bournemouth and Poole College were a headline sponsor.

Monday 11th March marked the first Sustainability Week here at Bournemouth and Poole College, with a mixture of different exhibitors in the foyer of the college throughout the week.  

At the beginning of the week, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) joined us and provided information to students who came to the stall. Heather Sharp had previously delivered an extraordinary community project at St. Peter's Church, where storytellers were invited to reconnect with nature by planting meadows to bolster wildlife populations in urban areas.

As part of the construction industry’s nationwide ‘Open Doors’ week, eleven students from a Level 2 Bricklaying course at Bournemouth and Poole College had the opportunity to visit Kier’s construction site, where they are currently clearing the grounds in preparation for the construction of the college’s new teaching block.

On Monday, 18th March, students attended the site between 1-2 pm ahead of the ‘groundbreaking ceremony’ that followed two days later (20th March) which saw dignitaries mark the start of work on the college’s new multimillion pound building.

Professional Services Development Day

On Tuesday, 19th March Bournemouth and Poole College held its yearly ‘Professional Services Development Day’. At the same time, lecturing staff went offsite; ‘back-to-the-floor’ and into employers and providers to return to the workforce. Staff attending the Professional Services Development Day could book on to a range of different talks and activities – from ‘The Art of Being Brilliant’ by Martin Burder.
