Superior shortlisted for National Apprenticeship Awards

Superior, a leading manufacturer of high integrity O-rings and seals, has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for ‘Employer of the Year’ at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2016.

In its 13th year, the awards received just under a 1,000 entries from businesses and individuals across England.

The Bournemouth & Poole College is the largest apprenticeship provider in Dorset and manages the Superior apprenticeship scheme in conjunction with the manufacturer through their Academy programme.

The College support Superior with intermediate, advanced and higher apprenticeships. All of which are accredited by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Once completing the higher national apprenticeship students are given the opportunity to study a degree in Engineering at The Bournemouth & Poole College, all which is funded by Superior.

Katie Bodman, Superior’s head of training Academy, said: “We’re delighted to have reached the regional finals in the National Apprenticeship Awards 2016. We invest a lot of our time making sure Superior is a great place to work, and in particular making sure that the young apprentices are supported to be able to flourish into senior roles.

“We’re committed to promoting investment in skills and regularly exhibit at local careers fairs. We also support local charity Julia’s House with various fundraising activities – just last month we raised £2,160 taking part in Tough Mudder.”

Theresa Moore, director of apprenticeships, from The Bournemouth & Poole College said: ‘‘We are thrilled that Superior has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards.

‘‘The awards specialise in recognising businesses that nurture and allow their own team to grow with the addition of apprentices, who over time become an asset to their workplace. This message is supported by all businesses which we provide apprenticeships for including Superior.’’
