Performing Arts students enthralled by star visits at The Jellicoe Theatre

Earl Carpenter came to the college to speak to students

One of The Bournemouth & Poole College’s most successful Performing Arts graduates returned to his roots at The College’s Jellicoe Theatre.

Earl Carpenter, best known for his West End stage performances in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, was happy to talk to the current Performing Arts students and offer expert advice on what it takes to get to the top in the entertainment industry.

Earl said: "For me this was a walk down memory lane. It was wonderful to meet and enjoy the company of such an enthusiastic group. I have such fond memories of The Jellicoe Theatre and it’s great to be here again.”

The Jellicoe is being replaced by a custom-built theatre in a fabulous new college complex at North Road, Poole and is due to open this autumn.

The students had yet another inspirational visit this week from actress and singer Sarah Jane Buckley. Sarah, who starred in Channel 4’s soap Hollyoaks, is currently touring in the show Songbird, performing the songs of Eva Cassidy.

After listening to Sarah’s talk one student, Emily Croft tweeted her thanks for a “completely inspiring talk.”

Sarah’s live show, which has had rave reviews is on at The Pavilion, Bournemouth.
