Gold standard training about to pay off for six Sunseeker International apprentices

Sunseeker apprentices at Southampton Boat Show 2015

The future’s bright for six newly qualified boat building apprentices who this month received their certificates at the Southampton International Boat Show.

The super six have spent four years training both on the job at Sunseeker's legendary Poole factory and studying on day release at The Bournemouth & Poole College, which has its own outstanding marine engineering department.

Mr Phil Popham, CEO of Sunseeker International, presented Calum Underwood, Bradley Cronk, Sam Gaze, Dan Lovett, Danny Austin and Lewis Harrison with their Certificates of Completion.

During the four years learning their trade they experienced both off the job training provided by the college's lecturers based in North Road, Poole and on the job training under the eagle eyes of Sunseeker’s own highly-skilled boat builders.

Mr Alex Bowman, Talent Manager for Sunseeker International, said: “Seeing apprentices graduate is such an exciting moment. The opportunities now in front of these six young boat builders are huge, not only with Sunseeker, but also within the UK Marine industry.”

Sunseeker is one of the leading luxury boat manufacturers in the world and has an outstanding track record for committing itself to gold standard training systems. It has recently taken on another intake of 38 new apprentices to follow the path of the latest six graduates.

Said Mr Bowman: “There are still limited positions available in the role of apprentice glass re-enforced plastic laminators."
