The Bournemouth & Poole College opens its doors to record number of visitors

A multitude of visitors, of all ages, attended the recent March Open Event at The Bournemouth & Poole College.

One of the key selling points for attendees was the number of employers exhibiting. Over 30 of the South’s leading businesses attended the event to speak to potential students/apprentices and give an insight into career opportunities within their organisations.

Careers advice and Apprenticeships were high on the agenda as the event was during National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week. The employers attending were placed in 8 industry themed ‘Apprenticeship Zones’ across the Bournemouth & Poole Campuses, so visitors could come and speak to specialists in the field they were interested in. Not only that, but visitors had the opportunity to speak to students and staff about the array of course options available, including Full-Time courses, A levels, Higher Education and Part-Time courses for adults.

Attendees were also given the chance to tour the latest additions to the college campuses, including North Road’s new Care Innovation Centre, which has been built to support and develop the Care sector across the region. This is part of a multi-million pound upgrade that the college has seen over the last 2 years in its facilities for students. Visitors were evidently impresses with what they saw as college staff reported over 100 applications to courses in just 4 hours!

A college spokesman said: “This was a great turn out to the Spring Open Event and clearly shows that people want to find out more about the college. It’s evident that more and more companies want to get involved, which means that visitors can directly speak to their potential future employer! Many of the companies attending were actively recruiting Apprentices so they found the event very useful, especially being in an industry specific Apprenticeship Zone.’
