Boarding Now: The College Takes to the Skies with Two New Aviation Qualification Offerings

The Bournemouth & Poole College will be helping learners take their careers to new heights with two new routes into aviation opening for applicants very soon, to begin study in September 2021. The College’s location in Dorset makes it the perfect location to study towards a lucrative career in the aviation sector, with two large regional airports less than 35 miles away and the major London airports just a two-hour train ride away. There are also a large number of employers in the wider aviation sector based in Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas.

The two Level 3 qualifications are due to start accepting applicants shortly; an apprenticeship opportunity or a full-time diploma. Both will offer a combination of practical and theoretical study. The courses have been developed in conjunction with experts in the industry and have been created with employment skills at the centre of study. In fact, The College has already developed strong connections with industry-leaders such as Draken, to offer students work experience opportunities, expert tuition and assurance that the skills the students learn are those that the sector look for.

For Nigel Smalley, the Director of Learning for Engineering & Construction, the launch of these two courses marks an exciting time for his students. He said, “Offering courses that reflect the growing aviation industry in the local area and worldwide is an exciting proposition for us at The College. The courses have been developed to prepare students for employment in the aviation industry, both civil and military. This new offering is an excellent way to take a step into career in aviation with a huge range of ongoing opportunities.”

Jacqueline Page, Vice Principal of The College, is equally as excited about the new opportunities: “At The Bournemouth & Poole College, we pride ourselves in offering a great choice of qualifications that are developed with the skills employers look for at the forefront. The new Apprenticeship will be an excellent opportunity for future students to get their feet in the door of the aviation industry and develop skills, gain experience and grow knowledge that will help them stand out from their peers.”
