A Level Programme

The Gold Standard

This two-year academic programme is still considered as the Gold Standard, and on successful completion students can apply for entry to a UK university. 

We offer A Level programmes in 19 subjects suitable for International students (listed below).

AS / A Level

Our International students can study up to 4 subjects in the first year (AS Level) and 3 subjects in the second year (A Level).

Entry requirements: good high school passes and UKVI IELTS 5.5 test score in English Language.

A Level plus English

Our A Level plus English Language course offers students the same study opportunities, but with an additional 6 hours per week English Language tuition in the first term in order to improve their English Language skills.

Venue: Lansdowne, Bournemouth

Duration: Two years, full time

Course Level: Level 3, Advanced


The Bournemouth and Poole Sixth Form College has developed an A Level Plus English Language programme, allowing you to improve your English during the first term. You will study in a modern campus environment, in a town that is a leading tourist and financial centre just two hours from London.

The College will provide you with an internationally recognised qualification, with the critical advantage of preparing you for study at a UK university, or to return to your home country to continue your studies.

Entry requirements

To join this programme you must be over 16 years of age, have English Language UKVI IELTS 5.0 taken in an approved UKVI IELTS testing centre, together with good high school passes.

Course structure

The course will be 36 weeks per year excluding College vacations.

Year 1: you will study English for 6 hours per week during the first term, together with up to 4 subject as AS Level.
Year 2: you will study 3 subjects at full A Level.
