FdA Performing Arts
Higher Education at The College is actively promoting Foundation Degrees to Industry. As these are vocational courses it is important for us to work in partnership with interested employers who can offer short-term student placements, sit on our advisory panels, or guest speak at a lecture. This continually serves to update the quality of the courses we can bring to our students and help to produce graduates with skills recognised and needed by Industry.

Skills for the Professional Workplace
Students undertaking a Performing Arts Foundation Degree have the option of 3 different pathways to choose from: Dance, Contemporary Theatre and Music Theatre. As with other courses consisting of multiple pathways, Performing Arts teaches the whole group a series of generic performance skills and techniques, and satisfies the different pathways with additional specialist classes.
Students are assessed through a series of practical performances, written assignments and oral presentations. The course is run at The College's Jellicoe Theatre and represents a valuable opportunity for students interested in furthering their experience of performance. Tutors include a wide range of specialists from the College's large, full-time Performing Arts team, supplemented by an intensive work experience project with Forest Forge Theatre Company and a programme of workshops by visiting professionals.

Work Placement

This is the students' opportunity to experience a real working environment. Performing Arts operate this unit slightly differently to other courses by allowing the group to work together.
Getting Involved
This is a very important element of the course and The College is always pleased to hear from interested companies willing to take students for placement. It is an opportunity for Industry to play an influential role in determining the tuition we give our students so as to install in them the skills they really need for business. Find out how to get involved.
