FdA Business and Management
Higher Education at The College is actively promoting Foundation Degrees to Industry. As these are vocational courses it is important for us to work in partnership with interested employers who can offer short-term student placements, sit on our advisory panels, or guest speak at a lecture. This continually serves to update the quality of the courses we can bring to our students and help to produce graduates with skills recognised and needed by industry.

Work Placement
This is the students' opportunity to experience a real working environment. Through regular tutorials and careers seminars, students are taught how to approach companies for placement. They are then expected to arrange a 6 week placement with an industry relevant company and gain experience at management / supervisory level. Students are required to produce an assessed body of work from their placement and The College requests feedback from a designated 'mentor' at the company who reports on the student's performance.
This is a very important element of the course and The College is always pleased to hear from interested companies willing to take students for placement. It is an opportunity for Industry to play an influential role in determining the tuition we give our students so as to install in them the skills they really need for business. Getting Involved

Many local companies have been involved in advising us on the design of our Foundation Degrees and help us to keep course content up-to-date and industry relevant. We are always appreciative of new companies giving a short amount of their time to assist us in this design process, or guest speak at a lecture.
