The Access to Education General offers an excellent grounding to help develop specific study skills and independent research. Useful for students planning to continue with studies in higher education.

You will study the compulsory units and select two additional optional units (dependent on timetabling and educational advice).

Compulsory Units are:

Information Technology - You will gain basic skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software and graphics packages. You will be able to fully utilise our open access IT facilities. Preparation for HE - This is a vital unit that helps you develop study skills and techniques. This will be of benefit throughout the course and in preparation for university. You'll also receive help and advice on the application procedures (UCAS requirements) for university.

Course Assessment:

You will be continuously assessed throughout this course.

Course Progression:

The Access to Education General course is ideal for students intending to continue on to Higher Education to study Humanities, Education, Social Sciences, Applied Sciences, Conservation Studies, Psychology and Computing. Guidance is also given with UCAS application and progression routes.

Additional Information:

It may be possible to study this course part time if accreditation of prior learning exists and if a negotiated timetable is possible with the course tutor.
