Careers Brief - Education - Post-Compulsory Education BA

Overview

The BA Post-Compulsory Education course gives teachers and trainers with the Certificate in Education the opportunity to gain an Honours degree, essential for improving your career prospects in teaching and opening up other opportunities.

Your teaching experience and knowledge of education, in addition to the transferable skills you have been developing (such as verbal communication, problem-solving and social interpersonal skills), can also be an advantage in many related occupations.

For example: in community education; as Education Officers working in Health Promotion, museums and environmental information; Training Officers in commerce and industry; careers advisers; youth workers; counsellors; education social workers; public relations; educational publishing; broadcasting; journalism; education sector administration.

Further study

You could progress onto an appropriate higher level Masters or PhD doctorate. A good Honours (First or 2.1) degree  is usually required. This could be to develop your area of study to a more in-depth academic level or to gain other specialist training.
