Careers Brief - Education - Certificate in Education /PGCE
Overview
The part-time Certificate in Education and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) offer you the opportunity to gain qualified teacher status for post-16 education, essential for a teaching career in Further and Adult Education and private training within the Learning and Skills sector. The course is also recognised by SEDA and ILT as a qualification for teaching in Higher Education.
Your teaching experience and knowledge of education, in addition to the transferable skills you have been developing (such as verbal communication, problem-solving and social interpersonal skills), can also be an advantage in many related occupations.
For example: in community education; as Education Officers working in Health Promotion, museums and environmental information; Training Officers in commerce and industry; careers advisers; youth workers; counsellors; education social workers; public relations; educational publishing; broadcasting; journalism; education sector administration.

Further Study
With the Certificate in Education you could progress on to study the BA in Post Compulsory Education to get an honours degree or a Masters degree.
