Undergraduate Finance – UK-EU Students
New Students from 2013


Full-time Fees

The 2013-2014 Tuition Fee for new students starting on all full-time Foundation Degree or HNC  at the Bournemouth & Poole College  will be £6,000 per annum. For 2013 entrants, fees will increase year on year in line with inflation (Retail Price Index).
The BSc Top up will be £9,000 per annum. (Exceptions to this see Continuing Students).


Part-time Fees

The fees for new  part-time students starting Foundation Degrees in 2012–2013 are £3,000 to £4,000 per year based on £500 per 20 credit units and depend on the number of units studied.   All part-time fees for 2013-2014 are  to be confirmed. Where a course is studied intensively the fees may be considerably higher. 

 

Continuing Students from 2013
Full-time Fees

The following fees will apply to Higher Education courses run at Bournemouth and Poole College in 2013-2014:
Foundation Degree students who commenced their studies in 2012-13  will be charged £6,000 per annum (plus any inflationary element decided by Government) during their second year studies 2013-2014.

Foundation Degree students who continue their studies without any break following the 2011-2013 academic years and proceed to a Top-up degree in 2013-2014  will pay £3,465 per annum plus any inflationary increase as decided by Government.  Please note that where a student chooses to defer for a year or more, then the new full fee will be charged.


Part-time Fees

Please note that all fees are quoted in pounds sterling and are per annum.  Fees quoted are for tuition only unless stated otherwise.  Fees are subject to annual review.
 

Financial Support for UK-EU students                                                                                             

Tuition Fee Loan - Full-time UK-EU students

Students studying for their first degree/HNC may apply for a Tuition Fee Loan on-line via Student Finance England. The fees are paid directly to the university /college by the Student Finance England. The loan will only need to be repaid when the student has left college/university and is earning over £21,000 a year. Students repay the loan at 9% of earnings above £21,000.
Students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan from early 2013.  In order to get your student loan in place at the start of term, please apply by the Spring 2013 deadline (date to be announced).

Tuition Fee Loan – Part-time UK-EU students

Part-time UK and EU students are now eligible for a loan to cover the cost of tuition.  Students only start to repay this as a graduate earning over £21,000.  Repayments will be 9% of income above £21,000.  The amount you repay each month will depend on your earnings.  Repayments will be deducted automatically from your earnings.  Please note that outstanding repayments will be written off after thirty years.

Financial Support for UK Full-time Students only

Maintenance Loan -   Full-time UK students only

The Maintenance Loan is to help students with their living costs whilst at university/ college and is means-tested. The amount you can borrow depends upon where you live, whether you live with parents, and your household income. All students who have been permanently resident in the UK in the 3 years prior to the course commencing are eligible for 65% of the loan, with eligibility for the remaining 35% based on your household income.  Full time students from England can apply for a

• Maintenance Loan of up to £5,500  (where students are living away from home and study outside of London)
• Maintenance Loan of up to £4,375  (where students are living at home with parents)

As with the Tuition Fee Loan, students will only need to start repaying the loan once they have left university/college and are earning over £21,000 a year.

Please visit the online calculator on the Student Finance England website to find out your exact entitlement for the Maintenance Loan. The Student Loans Company usually pays the loan in three instalments (termly) directly into your bank or building society account.

Maintenance Grant  - Full-time UK students only

A Maintenance Grant, as opposed to a loan, is a non-repayable award which is available to students from low-income households. The aim of this grant is to help with day-to-day costs, typically accommodation, travel and domestic bills etc.

Students from households with an income of £25,000 or below may apply for:

• A Maintenance Grant of up to £3,354 p.a. The grant will be based on a total household income and is a non-repayable award.

A partial grant is available for students with a household income of £25,000 - £42,600.  Students will be assessed automatically at the time they apply to the Student Loans Company.  The grant will be on a sliding scale between £3,354 and £50.00.

Please note:
• Maintenance Loans/ Maintenance Grants are paid directly to the student’s bank account at the beginning of each term
• Part-time students cannot apply for a Maintenance Loan or Maintenance Grant.

Applying for your funding
Student Finance England advise students to apply for their funding from Spring 2013. They recommend that students apply for support as early as possible in order that financial assessment is made in good time.  Please check the exact sums on

Bournemouth and Poole College Bursaries 2013 Entry

The Bournemouth and Poole College may offer a separate bursary for students on the following courses depending upon eligibility :

• The Bournemouth and Poole College Maintenance Bursary (full/time, home UK students only)
• The Bournemouth and Poole College Care Leavers Bursary (full-time, home UK students only)

In both instances, family income must be less than £25,000.  All Care Leavers are guaranteed a bursary provided they have been in care for a period of three months or more in the last five years. The remaining awards are offered as Maintenance Bursaries.  If the number of Bournemouth & Poole College Maintenance bursary applications exceeds the number of awards available, then successful applicants with be chosen by ‘Lower Participation Neighbourhood’ post-codes and also ranked by experience in community based activities.

 
Bournemouth  University Bursaries - 2013 Entry

Students enrolling on one of  the following Bournemouth University franchised courses may be entitled to a bursary.  These courses include:

BU Bursaries will be available to priority applicants with a programme of financial support based solely on ‘need' including family income, where you live or if you have been in care. We have incorporated funding from the National Scholarship Programme in our BU bursaries

The bursaries will be offered to students, who meet the eligibility criteria, in the form of fee waivers, cash awards and accommodation bursaries, of up to £6,000 per year.


BU Maintenance Bursaries

You may be considered for a BU Maintenance Bursary if you meet the following criteria as set out by the Government:
• Your family income is less than £25,000* per annum
• You are a new full or part-time** undergraduate student starting university for the first time in 2013, studying a course at BU or one of our Partner Institutions
• You (and/or your family) are responsible for your own fees and living expenses, and not sponsored by a company or charity.

* as per student finance data recorded as at 16 June 2013; ** part-time students must be studying a minimum of 25% of the course in each academic year.

Successful applicants of the BU Maintenance Bursary may receive £3,000 for the first year only.

 
BU Care Leavers Bursaries

The BU Care Leavers Bursary is available if you have been in full-time care for a period of three months or more in the last five years.
In addition to this you will also need to meet the following criteria:
• Your family income is less than £25,000* per annum
• You are a new full or part-time** undergraduate student starting university for the first time in   2013, studying a course at BU or one of our Partner Institutions
• You (and/or your family) are responsible for your own fees and living expenses, and not sponsored by a company or charity.

Successful applicants of the BU Care Leavers Bursary may receive
