The College Foundation

The College Foundation was set up in 1994 and was the first registered charity established in the U.K. to enhance the education of students attending a further education college. Since then we have raised over £1,000,000 for the benefit of our students.

College Foundation Student Support

We offer a small number of annual awards to students who are studying at The College and intend to continue their studies for a second or third year.

The Sam and Jessie Emberton Award

This award is made from a trust fund donated by the late Mr. Sam Emberton in memory of his wife. The award is offered annually to support a student who has faced adversity whilst successfully undertaking a programme of study at The Bournemouth and Poole College and who will benefit from the award in order to complete his/her studies. The amount of the award is based on the interest accrued in the fund during the course of each year.

The College Foundation Student Endowment Fund

This award is made annually to recognise the achievement of students whilst undertaking a programme of study at The Bournemouth and Poole College and who will benefit from an award in order to complete his/her studies. The amount of the award is based on the interest accrued in the fund during the course of each year.

The Magdalen Kennedy Memorial Award

Two awards are made annually to support one mature student studying Catering and one mature student studying Community Care at The Bournemouth and Poole College who have demonstrated academic endeavour and who will benefit from the award in order to complete his/her studies. The amount of the award is based on the interest accrued in the fund during the course of each year.

The Construction Award

The award is made annually to support a student on a Construction course at The Bournemouth and Poole College and who will benefit from the award in order to complete his/her studies. The amount of the award is based on the interest accrued in the fund during the course of each year.

Adult Achievers Awards

The College Foundation is pleased to support these annual awards. The awards are given to students who, in their tutors’ opinion, have made outstanding achievements during the year, generally overcoming enormous personal obstacles to persevere with their studies in order to reach their educational goals.

Visually Impaired Students

The College Foundation has supported visually impaired students by funding the purchase of upgraded IT software.
