The School of Performing Arts

You’ve heard of the Fame Academy and High School Musical – this is your chance to train for a professional career in the performing arts. You can study with industry–specialist tutors in the areas of Acting, Dance, Drama, Performing Arts and Music and Technical Theatre.

This fantastic new opportunity will enable students to study in a stimulating environment with industry professionals who know just what it takes to succeed in the world of entertainment. You can select your course depending on your current skills and qualifications, technical ability and your ambitions, but you will be guided as to the choices you can make from a wide range of challenging and rewarding options.

We’ve also got a great track record with the majority of our students securing good jobs. For example, Amanda Holden, (Presenter on Britain’s Got Talent) and Earl Carpenter, (Currently performing in Les Miserable in the West End), both of whom have graduated from the renowned Jellicoe Theatre.

Courses start at entry level with clear progression routes through to Foundation degrees and advanced, higher level qualifications.

Facilities & Resources

By joining the School of Performing Arts not only will you get the guidance from professionals, you will also enjoy excellent resources such as the renowned Jellicoe Theatre, performance space and rehearsal space, a contemporary dance studio, plus the use of state of the art studio in Poole Town Centre. Our performance portfolio will include up to 22 live performances each year ranging form in house dance and theatre productions, through to workshops and shows at other venues, culminating with major performances to our Annual Arts Festival (to be launched Summer 2009).

We want you to reach your personal and professional goals and be successful in your chosen career. We believe that we can nurture creative talents by welcoming people into our vibrant and creative community, and by giving you excellent advice and coaching. This could start with our Saturday Drama courses, or membership to the youth theatre or youth dance groups, with further progression onto one of our full time programmes. You will also have access to industry recognised LAMDA qualifications.

University and Industry Links

All tutors within the School of Performing Arts are industry professionals with a great deal of experience and contacts. This means that students can benefit from educational visits and, working with professional theatre or dance companies, either on tour or at leading West End and regional theatres, as well as participating in master classes, showcases and a variety of performance opportunities.

The majority of students graduating from The School of Performing Arts will be expected to proceed onto university level courses, or to take up work in their chosen profession. As part of their studies, students will get to see just what it is they would aspire to with trips to New York, London, The Edinburgh Festival, plus other shows and festivals to motivate and encourage them and to develop the breadth of their understanding.

Many students have also gone on to University or Higher education Drama Schools such Mount View Academy of Theatre Arts and Rose Bruford College.
