The Academy for Technology has purpose built and equipped facilities to provide its students with the resources to learn and practice in their chosen vocation. It has also invested in specialist equipment to enhance the normal curriculum requirements to support student projects and to offer local industries the opportunity to use this equipment for their benefit.

The Computer Aided Design studios/rooms are equipped to a very high specification and provide the environment to enhance learning, in animation, architecture or engineering design.

Construction trade areas (painting and decorating, brickwork, woodwork and furniture) all have ‘stand alone’ workshops and have accommodation for computer based learning and private study. These workshop areas simulate the working environment and provide realistic situations for the student to learn and gain experience.

The facilities for the construction services (electricity, water and gas) are built to the requirements of the various syllabuses, as described by their relevant lead-body. The electrical installation workshop can simulate either a single or two floored domestic dwelling and is equipped to meet the needs for inspection and testing training. Plumbing and Domestic Heating courses have many workshops specific to the needs of the industry and the Academy can offer Natural Gas and LPG Safety ACS assessments.

The Engineering workshop has the machinery and equipment to give students the practice needed to manufacture and produce ‘work pieces’ required for their vocational assessments. The welding and fabrication area is safely designed and provides adequate training booths for all courses. The area designed for motor vehicle training is laid-out for the benefit of the student enrolled on the maintenance and repair course as well as the mechanics course.

Electronics and Computing courses have bespoke rooms with the necessary test equipment and computers for the students practical tasks and projects. These specific areas also provide the learner with an environment that is both comfortable and resourceful.

Industry has an ever increasing need for people with the skills to achieve. The Academy for Technology aims to provide up-to-date equipment currently used in industry, so giving our students the skills to meet the demand.
