Forest School Practitioner Training

What is Forest School?

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children and young people opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem, through hands on learning experiences in a local woodland environment.

By participating in achievable tasks that are motivational and engaging in a woodland environment each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation, emotional and social skills. Through developing self awareness each participant can reach their personal potential.

Forest Schools has demonstrated through research, success with children and young adults of all ages who visit the same local woodlands on a regular basis and who through play and challenging activities, have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. Forest School programmes run throughout the year, going to the woods in all weathers (except for high winds). Children use full sized tools, play, learn boundaries of behaviour; both physical and social, establish and grow in confidence, self-esteem and become self motivated.

So Forest Schools will aim to develop:
  • Self Awareness
  • Self Regulation
  • ntrinsic motivation
  • Empathy
  • Good social communication skills
  • Independence
  • A positive mental attitude, self-esteem and confidence
Children, and more and more adults, need time to thoroughly explore their thoughts, feelings and relationships, to avoid some of the pitfalls of modern society, by engaging in Forest School this provides time and reflection. Through their experiences in Forest School participants learn and develop understanding of the world, the environment and everything within it through the use of emotions, imagination and senses.

We can now offer:
  • Level 1 Forest School Skills - An introduction to Forest School skills
  • Level 2 Forest School Assistant Practitioner – Train to work alongside a Forest School Leader
  • Level 3 Forest School Practitioner – For those who wish to lead a Forest School.
