Train to Gain is a national initiative that has already had a huge impact on businesses cross the country, because at the heart of Train to Gain is the Service to employers.
Effective, relevant training can greatly improve the success of your business or organisation and, as an approved Train to Gain Training Provider, The College can offer a wealth of qualifications and skills training for your workforce.
If you have workers without a level 2 qualification – then you may be able to apply for a grant to help with your staff training at The Bournemouth and Poole College.
Level 2 Qualifications are:
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C
- 5 ‘O’ Level passes
- 2 AS Levels or more
- 1 A Level or more
- Access Course
- First degree/Higher degree
- NVQ2
- NVQ3
- NVQ4
- Intermediate GNVQ or higher (AVCE)
- EdExcel/BTEC 1st Diploma or higher (National Certificate or Diploma)
- City & Guilds Craft Part 2
- HND/HNC
If your staff do not hold the above qualifications they may be entitled to FREE training with Train to Gain

If you do not see the trade or specialist vocational skills for your business, or you are seeking higher level qualifications, a representative from our Business Enterprise team can advise on our broad portfolio of qualifications and courses available, or refer you to an independent Skills Broker. Ask for details.
In addition, employers with fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees may claim a contribution to wage costs for those employees who achieve their first full Level 2; Basic Skills or Level 3 qualification. The contribution is made for some or all of the time these employees spend on approved training during normal working hours, up to a maximum of 70 hours.
