Skills for Life (English & Maths)

Poor English, Maths and IT skills could be costing your organisation money. Ask us how you can access free training.

Basic Skills can be defined as 'the ability to read, write and speak in English and use mathematics at a level necessary to function and progress at work and in society in general'.

One in six adults do not have the literacy skills expected of an average 11-year-old, and yet many are holding down good jobs.

Poor Basic Skills are thought to have significantly hampered Britain's economy and have been the subject of much heated debate. However, The Bournemouth and Poole College can help your staff with their essential skills.

We offer people the opportunity to rank their skills using the National Test questionnaire, and can help people up skill free of charge.

If you have a small group of learners, we can deliver the training at your place of work, and tailor the skills to suit your business (for example using mathematical calculations for weighing and measuring in production; or writing reports for your business etc.) For individuals there are many classes available, at a time and venue to suit you.
