What is an Apprenticeship?
Designed by employers for employers, an Apprenticeship is a programme of work-based learning and development, completed in the workplace allowing new recruits to be trained in their chosen field.
Apprenticeships are available at two levels and aimed at 16 – 18 year olds. An Apprenticeship tends to take about two years and is equivalent to 5 GCSE’s. Advanced Apprenticeships are usually for learners aged 18+ with appropriate experience or qualifications, but can be entered younger with the right entry requirements.
All Apprentices will follow an ‘Apprenticeship framework‘ that consists of a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), Key Skills and in some cases, a Technical Certificate.
