Site Visit at Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle is currently undergoing a major conservation project - the ideal opportunity for students and teachers to learn more about stone conservation of historic places. The National Trust is hosting this fantastic opportunity for students of Year 9, 10 or 11 who are interested in historic buildings, construction and local history to find out what goes on behind the scenes when conservation work is carried out on an important ‘Scheduled Ancient Monument’ such as Corfe Castle. Students meet the professionals and learn about the skills involved in conserving an historic structure.

Site visits can be combined with schools' own projects such as hands-on excercises in NC subjects. Our recent events combine the site visit with applying Mathematics (ratio, trigonometry, pythagoras).

Here are pictures from the last visit on 26 November 2007 with pupils from Budmouth Technology College
