Introduction: 

This innovative and exciting course will be run as part of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy and is broadly equivalent to 2 A Levels. It will provide students with the opportunity to prepare for enterprise by developing entrepreneurial skills and a business plan.  Attending 4 days a week, students on this programme will be required to wear business suits or smart office wear every day.  Approximately 50% of the course delivery will be from external employers and business owners as guest speakers.   The course is designed for ambitious people who want to run their own business. Students will need to have some ideas for a  small business venture which they can implement as part of the course assessment.  Students will be based in new modern office style rooms, take part in social enterprise and volunteering and undertake 4 weeks work placement as a business consultant in term 2. Graduates will be invited to attend a national graduation ceremony hosted by Peter Jones CBE.

This intense and fast paced course requires students to complete 12 units in 3 terms (Equivalent to 2 A Levels).

Entry Requirements: 

A minimum of 4 GCSE’s at grade A* - C including English and Mathematics or equivalent level 2 qualification (subject to interview). You should also have an active interest in starting your own business and be confident to present your ideas to investors and backers

Assessment: 

Assessment is on-going, through a series of relevant assignments rather than final examinations.  The assignments are related wherever possible to the students' own business plans, so that they follow naturally from what students are learning. 

Progression: 

On successful completion of this course you could progress into employment, self-employment or apprenticeship training in a wide variety of posts in industry and commerce.  Alternatively you could progress to the BTEC Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Business or another Level 3 course.

The suite of BTEC Diplomas are valued by employers and can lead to careers in business specialisms such as Finance, Human Resources, Management or Marketing as well as other business related careers.
