Introduction: 

This course is designed to provide you with a good knowledge of hairdressing and enable you to develop a sound awareness of the industry. Level 2 is the minimum required by the industry to work as a junior stylist.

Details: 

This programme places a strong emphasis on technical skills. You will study the following modules:
• Colouring
• Customer consultation and reception
• Cutting, setting and blow-drying
• Dressing long hair
• Health, Safety and hygiene
• Permanent waving and neutralising
• Shampooing and conditioning
• Team working
• Underpinning knowledge


As part of your timetable you will be required to work one evening a week in one of The College's hairdressing salons. You will study Functional Skills in English and mathematics.
The course is designed to provide you with a good working knowledge of hairdressing. It will enable you to develop a sound awareness of the industry. After the first term you will spend one day a week during term time in a salon on work experience or as a 1 week block in a local salon.
 

Entry Requirements: 

A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades A* - D or Level 1 Hairdressing qualification or at least one year’s experience full time in a salon. At your interview you will be asked to undertake a practical assessment.

International Entry Requirements: 

If English is not your first language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) of 5.0, Cambridge FCE, TOEFL 61(internet based), 173 (computer based) or TOEIC 570 is required. Completion of High School studies is required.

Assessment: 

The course involves continuous assessment of your practical work and assessment of your underpinning knowledge and understanding through oral questioning, assignments and written online tests.

Progression: 

This is a good course for those wishing to go straight into employment in the industry as a Junior Stylist. However you can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Ladies Hairdressing or Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make- Up at The College. You will be advised which is most suitable for you.

16-18 £100 (approx, fees are subject to change)

International Costs: 

The cost of this course is £5000 per year for tuition and a non-refundable deposit of £100 should be sent with the International Students Application for Admission Form. There may be an additional cost for materials and educational visits.
