Introduction: 

This part time programme is delivered through the Academy of Technology at The Bournemouth & Poole College's North Road campus in Poole, and covers both electronic and electrical systems. It will equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design, develop, and test high and low power systems. This includes both analogue and digital systems.

The Power Systems module requires students to design and investigate circuits and devices used in power supply systems, driver / buffer circuits and power amplifiers. The Power and Control module includes areas such as EMC, electrical regulations, ladder logic and the control of motors. The course has extensive 'hands-on' activities and project work. Industry specific skills are developed with modules in Project management, System Design, and Fault Finding.

Entry Requirements: 

HNC

4 GCSE at grade C minimum, to include English and Mathematics or an equivalent  qualification
• At least one full A level (at grade C or above), or equivalent
• Mature applicants will be considered and should have good literacy and numerical skills appropriate to the programme, a good understanding of computing and an aptitude for technical work.
 

UCAS tariff points 80 from one full A-Level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject

FdSc:  120 Level C credits from an HNC in an appropriate discipline

Preferred subjects: Physics, Maths, CDT

 

 

International Entry Requirements: 


If English is not your first language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) of 6.0, or TOEFL 550 (paper based), or TOEFL 80 (internet based) is normally required.
 

 

Progression:
