Hours of attendance and start date will be confirmed at interview or enrolment.
This is a split, 2- part course, which will give a practical introduction to basic engineering skills.
Part 1: NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations (18 weeks)
Part 2: City & Guilds 3268 Level 1 MIG and TIG welding skills (17 weeks)
Subjects studied will include:
Performing Engineering Operations Level 1
• Communication skills
• Engineering machining
• Fabrication
• Health & Safety
Welding
• Level 1 Metal Inert Gas welding
• Level 1 Tungsten Inert Gas welding
• Employability studies
You will also study Functional Skills at an appropriate level.
You should have a minimum of 2 GCSE passes at grade D, or successful completion of a Foundation Learning programme at Entry Level 3. Applicants should demonstrate an active interest in working in an engineering environment.
The course is assessed by practical assessment, on-line tests and oral questions.
Your progress will be monitored regularly through one to one tutorials.
Progression at The College to a related Level 2 qualification or to employment or apprenticeship training.
There is a materials fee of £30 to be paid at enrolment.
