This course offers a broad introduction to Travel and Tourism at Intermediate level and aims to prepare you for further study in this subject area. The course has been developed in consultation with employers in the travel and tourism industry, so you can be sure that you are developing relevant skills for your future career. The qualification is equivalent to NVQ Level 2 and is widely recognised by industry and taught within a grade 1 award winning department.
The units studied include:
• Promotional materials for travel and tourism
• Retail travel services
• Customer Service and selling skills for travel and tourism
• Structure of the UK travel industry
• Tour operations
• UK travel and tourism destinations
• Resort Representatives
• Worldwide travel and tourism destinations
You will also study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. There will be an opportunity to gain the additional qualification 'Worldwide Travel Destinations', which is widely recognised as essential in the travel industry.
A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades A* - D including English or any Level 1 qualification with passes in Level 1 Functional Skills. You should have an active interest in travel and tourism.
Assesment is through coursework and online tests.
Progression on to the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or other related Level 3 course, or to employment or apprenticeship training.
The fee for 16 - 19 yr olds for this course is £135 for educational visits and an atlas.
There is a very high level of support for this course. Every student will have regular frequent contact with a personal tutor who will coach you. We will ensure you feel confident about your progress and your course work.
