The Course

In brief ...

The Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma - Level 2 (QCF) qualification replaces the NVQ2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD). 

It aims to provide skills and knowledge for candidates who are employed or wish to volunteer (minimum of 10 hours per week) in a wide range of children and young people's settings covering the age range 0-19 years.  These roles may include:

  • Nursery Nurse
  • Pre-school Assistant
  • Youth and Community Worker

What courses can I do after this?

On successful completion of this qualification, you could progress to either the Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or Level 3 Diploma Specialist Support in Teaching and Learning in Schools or a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. 

What do I need to apply

To do this course you should have ...

You must be at least 16 years of age. 

You will be invited to attend an interview and will need to meet the requirements of working with children and young people.  A minimum of 10 hours work placement per week is required either employed or voluntary in an appropriate assisting/supporting role in your vocational setting.

Course Assessment

This is a flexible part-time course which consists of a blended learning approach aimed at meeting individual needs.  You will need to attend a 3 hour monthly workshop and access resources through an e-portfolio for self study.  You will be allocated an assessor who will meet, support and observe you in your work placement.
