Introduction: 

This course is ideal for anyone with an interest in manufacturing engineering as it will lead to a work-related qualification which reflects the knowledge, skills and understanding required in the sector.

Details: 

The course covers a number of core units:

  • Interpreting engineering information
  • Mathematics for engineering technicians
  • Working safely and effectively in Engineering

Technical units from:

  • Application of quality control
  • Engineering assembly methods and techniques
  • Engineering materials
  • Engineering marking out
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Selecting and using secondary machining operations
  • Working practices

The teaching of these units includes a substantial amount of practical workshop experience.

You will also study Functional Skills at an appropriate level and will learn through a combination of practical activities and theory lessons.

Entry Requirements: 

You will need a minimum of 3 GCSE's at grade A*-D including English, mathematics (Intermediate paper) and Science and preferably a relevant Design and Technology subject. You should demonstrate an active interest in engineering.

International Entry Requirements: 

If English is not your first language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) of 5.0, Cambridge FCE, TOEFL 61(internet based), 173 (computer based) or TOEIC 570 is required. Completion of High School studies is required.

Assessment: 

You will be continually assessed through projects and assignments.

Progression: 

Progression at The College onto a related BTEC Subsidiary/Extended Diploma or to employment or Apprenticeship traning with continued part time study.

International Costs: 

The cost of this course is £5000 per year for tuition and a deposit of £300 should be sent with the International Students Application for Admission Form. There may be an additional cost for materials and educational visits.
