This course is suitable if you wish to have a career in a business. It will enable you to gain skills and an understanding of business procedures and why they are implemented.
The course is made up of eight units:
- Business Purpose
- Business Organisations
- Financial Forecasting for Business
- People in Organisations
- Business On-line
- Business Enterprise
- The Marketing Plan
- Managing Personal Finance
- Visual Merchandising and Display Techniques for Retail
You will also study Functional Skills in English at an appropriate level.
A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades A* - D including English, or completion of a Level 1 qualification. You should have an active interest in business.
If English is not your first language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) of 5.0, Cambridge FCE, TOEFL 61(internet based), 173 (computer based) or TOEIC 570 is required. Completion of High School studies is required.
This course is continuously assessed. You will complete a number of projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and complete a business case study. You will also undertake a period of work experience.
On successful completion of this course you could progress into employment or apprenticeship training in a wide variety of posts in industry and commerce. Alternatively you could progress to the BTEC Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Business or another Level 3 course, subject to interview.
The suite of BTEC Diplomas is valued by employers and can lead to careers in business specialisms such as Finance, Human Resources, Management or Marketing as well as other business related careers.
You may also progress within employment to professional qualifications such as The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Accountancy and Public Relations.
