The Bournemouth and Poole College is launching the Institute of Professional Hair and Beauty from September 2009, building on years of training excellence The College has been at the heart of vocational training for the hair and beauty industry for some considerable time. The facilities, resources and additional benefits for learners have significantly developed into what is undoubtedly one of the best training opportunities the South West can offer.

Courses

The courses available in the Institute of Professional Hair and Beauty are:

VRQ1 in Hairdressing
VRQ1 in Beauty Therapy
VRQ2 in Woman’s Hairdressing
VRQ2 in Beauty Therapy
Diploma in Hair and Cosmetic Make up
VRQ3 in Woman’s Hairdressing
VRQ3 in Beauty Therapy
VRQ3 in Body Therapies
BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy Sciences
Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical and Media make up

Facilities & Resources

The Institute has 11 realistic working environments with the latest technology and equipment to support the delivery of the practical curriculum ensuring, students are trained to current industry standards.
Other dimensions to institute training include client care and customer service with a fully operational reception seeing over 850 clients a week.
The Institute works with leading product specialists including Wella, Goldwell, Paul Mitchell, Dermalogica, Eve Taylor and St. Tropez and are one of only five recognised centre’s of excellence for Wella UK.
Students are also members of the International Dermal Institute which gives them access to advanced training opportunities.
The curriculum will be enhanced with the opportunity to study barbering, reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Nail Art, St Tropez tanning, Retail/customer care certificates and Microdermabrasion.
Students are invited to undertake work experience and trips across Europe plus participate in national and international competitions.
Educational trips and visits are also arranged to spas, shows and exhibitions where students can keep abreast of current trends and contemporary working practice.

Links with universities and employers

The Institute of Professional Hair and Beauty have key links to local and regional job opportunities. The College works with Steiner Maritime to help them select highly skilled staff to work on cruise liners; Clarins for in-house beauty therapists, and Virgin Atlantic recruit directly from The College for staff to work within their first class airline cabin service. The Institute has links with Bournemouth and Solent University.

You could progress onto a higher education course or onto a career in the Hair and Beauty industry including salons, first class airlines, spas, own business.
