The focus in the economy is shifting more towards a slow recovery, with the value of lessons learned along the way. Many of us have found ourselves with new or developing roles to fulfil, or identified that we need to retrain, upskill and prepare for changes ahead. This is an ideal time to put this in motion.

Nick Pearce, 40, worked in the Construction Industry for many years, but after medical advice, decided to change careers to stop any further damage to his health. He first moved to Bournemouth to work in retail, but the shop he worked at went into administration, and he found himself unemployed. It wasn't until he expressed an interest to get into the Care Industry that the Job Centre could really help him progress into a career that inspired him most. Nick attended The College's Skills for Care course, in association with Job Centre Plus.

Thanks to everyone that attended the recent Engineering and Manufacturing Forum, it was a successful morning and we have some exciting industry speakers lined up for the next one so look out on our website for updates on this forum and many others that we run for different sectors.
