About Apprenticeships

Do You Want to Find a Job With Training, or to be Trained for a Job?

If your answer is YES then an Apprenticeship programme is for you. The College offers a wide variety of programmes in many different occupations at Intermediate Apprenticeship, Advanced Apprenticeship and Higher Apprenticeships levels (NVQ 2, NVQ 3 and NVQ 4).

An Intermediate Apprenticeship programme takes a very practical approach to gaining skills and qualifications and leads to an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level 2. You can achieve even higher skill levels up to NVQ level 3 with an Advanced Apprenticeship or NVQ level 4 with a Higher Apprenticeship.

Work-Based learning with an employer forms a major part of the Apprenticeship programmes, supported by relevant College based training in the form of day release. Apprenticeship programmes include training in a range of key kills including Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology. Theory based Technical Certificates are included within the Apprenticeship Framework.

We use the latest technology methods and, where appropriate, provide you with practical experience in specialised areas. You will receive individual guidance and support to ensure you gain the maximum achievement from your programme.

When Can I Join a College Apprenticeship Training Programme?

As soon as you leave school, but you can apply earlier to make sure of your place. If you are already in a job, or you have a job to go to when you leave school or college and you want to carry on training, ask your employer to find out more about Apprenticeship programmes arranged through The Bournemouth & Poole College. You’ll have full Apprenticeship status and will still be an employee of the company being paid a real wage.

How Much Time do I Spend at College?

Training at college usually consists of one day a week with the rest of your week at your work placement although some vocational areas differ.

Why Should I Choose The College?
